Toyota will give you a 50th Anniversary Edition Camry Hybrid for $31,680

If you want a 2007 Camry Hybrid 50th Anniversary Edition, it will be yours - oh, yes, it will - for $31,680. This limited edition hybrid is meant to celebrate Toyota’s 50 years of business in the United States. Only 3,000 of these special editions will be made at Toyota Motor Manufacturing in Kentucky. The Camry recently won Motor Trend’s Car of the Year and the hybrid version won Green Car of the Year from Green Car Journal (see related links below).

The 50th Anniversary Edition Camry Hybrid is unlike any other Camrys, with “stunning” Blizzard Pearl paint, unique 16-inch alloy wheels with a graphite finish, and exterior badging that reads “50th Anniversary Edition.” A moonroof, voice-activated DVD navigation system with a four-disc changer, leather-trimmed bisque-colored interior, heated front seats, and a carpeted cargo mat grace the interior, along with 50th-Anniversary-Edition-only features like brushed stainless dash appliqué, illuminated front door sills, and carpeted floor mats with the “50th Anniversary Edition” logo.

Toyota Announces Pricing For Camry Hybrid 50th Anniversary Edition

February 20, 2007 - Torrance, CA - Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., today announced manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) for the 2007 Camry Hybrid 50th Anniversary Edition. The limited edition Camry Hybrid celebrates Toyota’s 50 years of business in the United States.

This specially badged Camry Hybrid comes with features exclusive only to the 50th Anniversary Edition. Its stunning Blizzard Pearl paint, unique 16-inch alloy wheels with a graphite finish, and exterior “50th Anniversary Edition” badging are just some of the 50th Anniversary exclusives not available on any other Camry. A power moonroof and heated power outside mirrors are also standard.

Inside, the Camry Hybrid is equipped with a voice-activated DVD navigation system with a four-disc changer, leather-trimmed bisque-colored interior, heated front seats, and a carpeted cargo mat. Unique interior features include brushed stainless dash appliqué, illuminated front door sills, and carpeted floor mats with the “50th Anniversary Edition” logo.

Only 3,000 units will be built at Toyota Motor Manufacturing in Kentucky. The 50th Anniversary Edition will carry a base manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $31,680 and will start arriving at Toyota dealerships in March.

Toyota planning new crossover for Kentucky plant

Toyota Motor Corp. is apparently looking into adding a new model to the assembly line at its Georgetown, Kentucky facility. That’s the plant we’ve recently covered regarding union issues. Georgetown is currently building nothing but Camrys right now, so adding a new crossover to the mix “would help ease the plant’s dependence on Camry sedans.” Sure, like five million Camrys indicates they need a change. They have already added Camry Hybrid production, but it’s never a bad idea to diversify to allow for market fluctuations.

The plant update would likely cost around $400 million, but wouldn’t add overall production capacity or swell the work force. If and when another model is added, it is likely to be a new crossover, which would require Toyota to shift some Camry production to other facilities. They would also have to be able to build this new crossover in other Toyota plants to meet global demand. With a potential $400 million on the line, it’s not surprising to hear that the Kentucky legislature is working on an incentive package for the expansion.
