Rendered Speculation: Production Jaguar C-XF

Wednesday, December 31st, 1969

We’re going to have to wait until pictures of the actual production XF drop, but in the meantime these renderings are likely not very shy of the mark. Motor Authority commisioned Schulte-Design to analyze the concept car, various spy shots of XF mules, and inside information from people familiar with the car, melding it all into a coherent stab at what we can expect on the street. The S-Type is so last millennium, so it will be nice to see its replacement wearing a modern design language.

That design language is pulled back a bit from the concept, but it still ends up looking great. If this is the new face of Jaguar, there’s hope. Not that paying homage to 40 years ago is outright bad, but it’s nice to see something new emerging. If the transition from concept to production is as gentle and dare we say refined as what we see in the renderings, we have a billet-sculpted, muscular Jag coming.

click above for 83 high-res images of the 2009 Dodge Ram

Since both The New York Times and AllPar.com have already broken the embargo, we don’t mind telling you all you need to know about the 2009 Dodge Ram. The look is as aggressive as a Ram should be, but slippier through the air than past models. Instead of upping the ante with an even larger grille, Dodge designers instead tipped the angle of the grille forward to impart the face of their truck with a solid presence. Another interesting styling touch is molding the rear bumper around the two chrome tipped tailpipes instead of having the pipes just poke out beneath.

Mechanically speaking, the ‘09 Ram comes ready to play with a new 5.7L HEMI V8 with 380 HP and 404 ft.-lb. of torque (the Toyota Tundra’s 5.7L V8 produces 381 HP and 401 ft.-lb. of torque for comparison’s sake). There’s also a 4.7L V8 available with 310 HP and 330 ft.-lb. of torque and a 3.7L V6 making 215 HP and 235 ft.-lb. of torque. Transmissions include a six-speed manual and four- and five-speed automatics, and gear ratios run from 3.21 to 3.55 to 3.92 to 4.10. When optimally configured, the new Ram can sprint to 60 MPH in a mere 7 seconds. Snappy for a full-size truck, wouldn’t you say?

More after the jump, including the 2009 Dodge Ram’s official rap sheet and 83 high-res images in our gallery below.

We’ve been wondering where Nissan was going to fit in on the docket of next week’s Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS), but InsideLine confirmed our suspicions - they won’t be having a press conference at all. Instead, the Forum concept will be set on stage and Nissan will turn its attention to the New York Auto Show in March. There, Nissan plans to take the wraps of the redesigned Maxima that’s destined to go on sale later this year.

Darryl Harrison, Nissan’s North American spokesperson, told InsideLine that the Maxima will be “all new” but he didn’t go into details about what changes would be made. He also said that a “couple of other things” would be on display in the Big Apple and that Nissan’s presence at the Chicago Auto Show would be minimal.
