While we were roaming the machine shop during our visit to David Greenlees were came upon this interesting buffing stand. Instead of spending $50 on a standard cast-iron stand, David visited his local salvage yard and bought this discarded beefy crankshaft that was once used in a commercial truck for practically pennies. He welded a base plate to the top to hold the buffing machine then welded on a old late machine tool plate to the bottom. The crank’s length was the perfect height, and its heavy weight makes it ideal to hold the buffer steady during use.
